CDC to break ground for US$1.6 million HQ.

MONROVIA, LIBERIA — The Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) says it will officially break ground for its new US$1.6 million national headquarters on October 18, 2025, along the Boulevard route in Congo Town, a project the party describes as a major step toward modernization and nationwide expansion.

Party officials say the state-of-the-art facility, which is expected to be completed within six months, will serve as the CDC’s administrative, strategic, and policy nerve center, coordinating activities across Liberia.

According to the CDC, the new project reflects the party’s long-term vision to strengthen its institutional presence and build permanent offices in all 15 counties as part of an ambitious plan to deepen grassroots engagement and ensure organizational sustainability ahead of the 2029 general elections.

Speaking to reporters in Monrovia over the weekend, Cllr. J. Fonati Koffa, Chairman of the CDC Headquarters Construction Committee, described the project as a “symbol of growth, resilience, and political renewal” that embodies the party’s evolving vision for national leadership.

“This site may be smaller in land size than our former headquarters, but it carries far greater significance,” Cllr. Koffa noted. “The construction of this building is the foundation of a broader effort to build CDC offices across Liberia, a tangible expression of our commitment to grassroots connection, service delivery, and institutional continuity.”

Koffa disclosed that the CDC has already secured land in several counties, including Barclayville, Grand Kru County, as part of a larger expansion strategy to establish regional headquarters. He emphasized that this effort demonstrates the party’s readiness to remain visible and active across all regions of Liberia.

“Our goal is to ensure that every county experiences the physical and symbolic presence of the CDC, a party that stands for inclusion, stability, and people-centered leadership,” he said.

The groundbreaking ceremony is expected to draw senior party leaders, lawmakers, county chairpersons, and supporters from across Liberia. Insiders say the event will represent more than just the start of construction; it will signal what many describe as “a defining moment of rebirth and unity” for Liberia’s largest political institution.

Once completed, the new headquarters will feature modern administrative offices, a conference hall, training rooms, media facilities, and engagement spaces for youth and women, further reinforcing the CDC’s organizational depth and political infrastructure.

Political analysts view the initiative as a strategic move designed to solidify the party’s base and project institutional strength ahead of the 2029 polls.

“This project is not only about a building, it’s about legacy, structure, and the future,” Cllr. Koffa emphasized. “It reflects the CDC’s readiness to lead with vision and accountability, and to remain a dominant force in Liberia’s democratic landscape.”

The October 18 groundbreaking, according to party officials, will mark the start of a new chapter in the CDC’s history, one defined by organization, inclusiveness, and long-term political stability.
