CDS calls for partnership between DICON and TETFund

 

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has made a clarion call for collaboration between the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) and the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu signed the DICON Act into law for technological development in education and empowerment of the national economy.

General Musa made the call on Thursday during a courtesy call on TETFund Executive Secretary, Mr Sonny Echono.

The CDS highlighted the relevance of education to human capacity development, noting that without education, most people would not have held the various important positions they are in today. Speaking further, he said education is critical to efficient service delivery in the Armed Forces and appreciated the numerous interventions in military institutions by the TETFund. He assured that the Armed Forces will continue to be an unwavering supporter of educational developments in Nigeria.

Earlier in his address, the TETFund Executive Secretary commended the Nigerian Armed Forces under the leadership of the CDS for their selfless services to the nation, explaining that the Nigerian Armed Forces have always supported educational institutions in Nigeria. The TETFund boss also commended the Armed Forces for providing an enabling environment for education to thrive, despite the challenges posed by insecurity in the country.

He also expressed TETFund’s willingness to collaborate with military and educational institutions, especially in the areas of research, innovation and technological developments. Mr. Echono said his organization will collaborate with DICON and other sectors of the economy to realize national aspirations.

He also commended the Nigerian Armed Forces for being a vanguard of innovations that bring solutions to critical national issues. While commending the CDS for the relative peace observed in the country so far, he promised that TETFund will maintain its responsibility to support the military institutions.
