Chan 2024: The three hosts crashed when Senegal faces Morocco and Sudan meets Madagascar in the semifinals

Defensores Senegal champions will face the Morocco winners twice, while Sudan faces Madagascar as the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (Chan) 2024 Enter your semifinal stage.

The last alignment of four four was confirmed after a dramatic weekend of the quarterfinals in East Africa that saw the three Kenyan, Tanzania and Uganda coanfitations eliminated despite the passionate support in the home.

The tournament, jointly organized in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, now has a heavyweight sense with two former champions who are still in dispute along with two of the main stories of competition losers.

Senegal, Morocco established for heavyweight duel

Senegal stressed his title credentials with a 1-0 victory over Uganda in Kampala. Faced with 35,000 fans at the National Stadium Mandela, the Teranga lions hit decisively in the 62nd minute to Oumar Ba.

Uganda, which appears in the Chan elimination stage for the first time, dominated possession but could not break the Back Line resolution of Senegal. The goalkeeper Marc Diouf achieved late salvations to preserve victory.

That victory established a semifinal clash with Morocco, who overcame the coanfitations of Tanzania 1-0 in Dar Es Salaam. Oussama Lamlaoui scored the winner in the middle of the second half, his tournament room, while the Atlas Lions survived the strong pressure of Taifa’s stars.

Despite the injury setbacks, the tactical discipline of Morocco shone as it extended its remarkable knockout record, winning its seventh consecutive elimination game since 2014.

The fairy tale career of Sudan continues

Sudan produced one of the shocks of the competition, eliminating 2022 Algeria finalists on penalties after a 1-1 draw in Zanzíbar. A goal of Ayoub Ghezala gave Sudan the advantage before Soufiane Bayazid equalized, but the heroic of goalkeeper Mohamed Abooja in the shooting sealed a 4-2 victory.

The team of coach Kwesi Appiah, who demolished Nigeria 4-0 in the group stage, has been the surprise package of the tournament and is now pointing to a historic Final of Chan First.

His opponents, Madagascar, continued their reputation for killing giants by knocking out the hosts to Kenya about penalties in Nairobi. After a 1-1 draw, veteran goalkeeper Michel Ramandimbisoa starred in the shooting when the Barea triumphed 4-3.

The hosts come out but the tournament thrives

Kenya’s debut campaign ended in Heartbreak, Tanzania’s dream was arrested by Morocco, and Uganda’s historical career was interrupted by Senegal. Even so, full stadiums and dramatic games have turned Chan 2024 into one of the most memorable editions to date.

The winners will meet in the final on Saturday, August 30, in what promises to be a classical conclusion for Chan 2024.
