The next Nigeria team for the African Nations Championship (Chan) can learn many lessons from the Moroccan team in the current edition, where the coach of the Atlas Lions, Tarik Sektioui, has suggested that ‘responsibility for the nation’ is a huge factor that guides his lining to the semifinals.
With the corporate support of Showtime, a leading brand in the development of football, Sports247 was live at the conference after the game after the 65 -minute goal of Oussama Lamlioui helped Morocco send one of the three coanfitations, Tanzania packed on Friday.

The game at the Benjamin Mkapa stadium in Dar-Es-Salaam was at the height of its billing as a potentially explosive cookie, since Tanzania players were determined to continue their fairy tale trip as ‘The Cinderella squad’ of Chan 2024.
However, it was the Moroccans who showed that they did not achieve all the records they have in the history of this competition with light fingers, the first host to win it in 2018 and, with a second title in 2020, they are also the first country to win it again.
They are now in progress to become the first country to win three editions of the competition for players at home in the national leagues of their respective African countries.
Currently, Morocco shares the record of two titles each with Dr. Congo, who could not even qualify for this year’s Chan, while his neighbors, Republic, Congo Republic, were sent to pack by a 2-0 defeat against Nigeria already eliminated on Tuesday.
The responsibility is now in Morocco to record more milestones in the Anal of Chan and Sektioui believes that their players are up to the task, considering that they assume the task of winning matches as a sign of national responsibility for their country.
Sektioui explained: “We take the responsibility in which we are. We have very good players with a lot of quality and are working responsibly.
“We are here as the Moroccan national team of our country. We must do everything that makes our country and our people proud of us. That is our task.”
Sports247 pointed out the passion in his voice, with a clue that the lessons Nigeria can choose is that Chan is better processed by an indigenous coach and the team must have players who are not considered ‘B-Squad’.
Such was the aura that was exudated in the speech after Sektioui, who played professional football abroad with the FC Porto de Portugal and Aj Auxerre de France, then returned home in coach Wydad Athletic and Berkane, among others.
He was appointed to handle the Chan de Morocco team only one month before the competition began and is now on the threshold of showing Nigeria how to succeed in this championship that is considered the second violin for the heads of football eggs in the most populous nation in Africa.
