Charly Boy said; “I used to dress like a girly girl, I used to wear blush, make-up, lipstick and stuff, and that’s where the gay speculation started. People thought I was like that until my friend Tina saw me and said, ‘ah, you need something more macho, more masculine.’”
Additionally, he revealed that during his later years in America, the majority of his friends were transvestites—individuals who wear clothing that is typically associated with another gender.
“If you remember that in the Charly Boy Show, I had a character called Linda, my alter ego. It was easy for me because I’ve been around bisexual, gay and transgender people, so I took all the nuances from that,” Charly Boy explained.
