Check the facts: Is the picture of these children running from the scene of the benue murder as claimed by Facebook?

Claiming: The picture shows the children running during the murder in the Benue state.

On June 18, Facebook user Making a post accompanied by a few pictures with claims they come from the place of the killing of the Benue state.

Remember that in the early hours of June 14, armed invaders attacked the Yelewata community in the Guma Regional Government in the Benue state. After the attack, 100 people were killed and millions of property were destroyed.

President Tinubu Bola has visited the state and gave instructions that the perpetrators were arrested.

The survivors of attacks have also moved to IDP camps.

The image posted on Facebook shows the children running helters in a chaotic scene.

The Facebook post deplored the cruelty in the state of Benue, while it was suspected that the attack was motivated by the Islamic agenda of Nigeria.

Around 132 people have commented on the post while 12 people have shared it.

Verification:

Using Google Reverse image search, Ripples Nigeria found that the images were displayed in articles published in 2017 and 2022.

One article is panting“8 South Sudan refugees were killed on Christmas Eve in Ethiopia”.

Other articles sound: “People die in the ethnic clashes of South Sudan”.

Conclusion

Viral image is not related to the killing of the Benue state. Also, there is no evidence to support the claim that the murder is part of the Nigerian Islamic agenda as admitted by the Facebook page.
