Chelle blames the ‘lack of experience’ for the early departure of Chan de Super Eagles

Eric Chelle was delighted with Nigeria’s victory against Congo, expressing relief that the team secured the three points at the end of the tournament, but also showed regret for losses against Senegal and Sudan.

The Chan Eagles chose a 2-0 victory to close their campaign in the tournament, after being eliminated before.

Speaking after the match against Congo, Chelle asked the NFF to invest more in the Chan Eagles.

“We deserve to win this game because we had possession and the ball. We tried to play and did it, we played well during the game. The boys were determined since they did not want to come to Nigeria without winning.”

He continued:

“We need to improve, we play in the tournament without much experience. Senegal has experience, and read our game and scored a goal with our first mistake.

“In the Sudan game, the pressure was so high for players, it is painful, we won but we have a lot of repentance.”

Nigeria’s goals were scored by Anas Yusuf and Alimi Sikiru.

It remains to see how many of the players of the Super Eagles B team will be called to the senior team, but the 15 -year goalkeeper Ebenezer Harcourt, who became the youngest player to appear in the story of Chan, has an opportunity.

Chelle will now have to leave behind the disappointment of the tournament and focus on the crucial classifying of the World Cup against Rwanda and South Africa.

Nigeria is currently in fourth place in Group C, six points behind the leaders of South Africa.

The Franco-Malian tactic understands that there is no margin of error, since it will be judged by any result that obtains from now on, and the early departure of the African Nations Championship will always be mentioned.

Nigeria has played five competitive games, apart from the friendlies, with Chelle and has achieved two victories, a draw and two losses.
