Chelle explains the selection process for new players in Super Eagles

The chief coach of the national senior team of Nigeria Eric Chelle has explained the criteria he used to deliver calls to the players of his team, reports Owngoalnigeria.com.

It is expected that the coach who is currently in the camp with team B will prepare for the Chan Championship to make his list of players public for the next World Cup classifying games against Rwanda and South Africa, respectively, next month.

Speaking about the criteria for the selection, Chelle, who has been in charge of the team for five games listed three main things he considers, before any call to a player.

“First, you need to have play time. You need to be in the best physical form and you must also be good. Then, the last is tactically. As a coach, you don’t have time. When I took charge of the Nigerian national team, I only had two sessions before the game,” he told Onze Mondial.

“Then, in two training sessions, I have to quickly transmit the message and what I want for my team. Physically, the player must be fit. He must also be tactically intelligent to be ready to understand and apply my instructions. He also needs good technical quality. And finally, he must be mentally ready.”
