Super Eagles chief coach Eric Chelle, has made it clear that his main concern falls to his own team while preparing to face Jamaica in the Unity Cup final on Saturday.
Speaking at the press conference prior to the match, Chelle quickly discards any detailed analysis of the Jamaican side.
“I don’t want to talk too much about Jamaica, I’m not his coach,” Chelle said. βMy approach is in my team and how we address this game.
“The most important thing for me is how players play, how much they improve every day in training. That is what matters.”
Nigeria beat Ghana 2-1 on Wednesday, to reserve a place in the final.
Chelle is expected to stay with the core of that initial XI, although there may be some tactical adjustments.
The shock of Saturday will mark the seventh meeting between Nigeria and Jamaica, with the Super Eagles holding a slight advantage in the head to head record (3W, 2D, 1L).
Meanwhile, Chelle and his players will seek to finish in a high and bring impulse to their next accessory, friendly international against Russia, scheduled for June 6 in Moscow.
The Unity Cup is part of Nigeria’s widest preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, which resumes in September 2025.
