Chelsea claim first leg win in Conference League play-off

Premier League side Chelsea beat Servette 2-0 in the first leg of their Europa Conference League play-off tie on Thursday night.

The match played at Stamford Bridge saw Christopher Nkunku open the scoring with a second-half penalty before Noni Madueke doubled their lead.

The Blues registered five shots on target throughout the game, while the visitors managed eight and will rue a few misses.

It was Enzo Maresca’s first win as Chelsea boss.

Chelsea will travel to Geneva in Switzerland for the second leg against Servette which will be held next Thursday, August 29, 2024.

If they advance, they will enter the group stage draw on August 30 and will begin the actual competition on October 3.
