City Shuts Down in Massive Show of Support for APC – TrendyNewsReporters

Ubiaja unites for Akpakomiza: City closes its doors in huge show of support for APC.

As the September 21, 2024 gubernatorial election approaches, residents of Ubiaja, comprising Wards 6 and 7, have demonstrated their unwavering support for Senator Monday Okpebholo, the candidate of the APC, by shutting down the town on Sunday, September 8, 2024. The ward-level campaigns, held at separate venues, were marked by jubilant crowds, folk songs and ecstatic frenzy, indicating a strong desire to see Senator Okpebholo become the next executive governor of Edo State.

Party leaders delivered impassioned speeches, urging the crowd to remain steadfast, courageous and focused, and avoid distractions from the opposition. The massive turnout was described as “organic” by some speakers, contradicting social media narratives suggesting Senator Okpebholo had no following.

Crowds were encouraged to vote en masse on September 21, ignoring opposition attempts to win the election through social media.

Highlights of the event included the reception of Adolphus Arebanmhen Aletor, a former Labour Party aspirant, who announced his support for Senator Okpebholo and the APC. Aletor highlighted his philanthropic efforts, including paying teachers’ salaries, examination scholarships and revitalizing Illushi Secondary School. His decision to support Senator Okpebholo was based on their shared vision of good governance.

As the campaign gathers pace and the people of Ubiaja stand firmly behind Senator Okpebholo, it is clear that he is destined to become the next governor of Edo State.

The Ward level campaigns were led by senior legislators, Honourable Festus Igbelokoto Edughele of Ward 7 and Chief Festus Ebea of Ward 6. Also present were members representing Esan SE and Esan NE federal constituencies in the Federal House of Representatives, Honourable (Prince) Odi Okojie, Honourable Sam Oboh, Honourable Joe Ikpea, Honourable Emma Idogen and many others.
