A non -governmental organization (NGO) Cleen Foundation in collaboration with MacArthur Foundation has supported the removal of the plea bargain for the actual administration of the criminal justice system (ACJ) in Nigeria
According to them, that appearance of the law is unfair and the corruption of the wheel in the country’s criminal justice system is corrupted
They declared him on Wednesday during a dialogue in the basic themed media: “Augmented budget allocation for the efficient implementation of the administration of the Law on Criminal Justice (ACJL) in Nigeria” held at the Lagos Foundation Office.
According to the executive president of AG, Cleen Foundation, Peter Maduma when a crime is committed, is suspended on the state actually guaranteeing justice.
“But what we have clearly seen is that, at the investigation point, they quickly introduce the bargaining as an alternative to that person who crosses the route of justice. And once taken that road, they find a way to literally obtain injustice.
“You may be familiar with the idea of law enforcement agents, in particular to exploit those who are looking for justice, or those who are considered victims, or in particular those who are authors. But above all, the politically exposed people have seen it as an exit door to be able to escape justice.
“In this note, it is essential to examine how greater funding can improve the effectiveness of the ACJL framework and this dialogue has covered the meaning of the allocation of the financial statements in the administration of justice, the challenges addressed under the current budget constraints and potential solutions for improvement”
He observed that once a plea bargain has occurred, it offers the person a certain level of safeguard and that the safeguard means that you will no longer be entirely elaborated through the courts. So, we think that in reality it has not been implemented in the true sense since the law has established it.
He added that, regardless of the supply agreements, it is actually designed to be an agreement that offers a faster process for justice to be served. But they cut the appearance that worries punishment.
Maduma also said that the appearance is actually a consequence for the bad nature of conceiving the law and as we have also implemented it.
Even speaking, the director of the program, Cleen, Mr. Salaudeen Ashim, said that the problem of plea bargaining is very unfair for the administration of the Nigeria judicial system because it is one of the weak points it has seen in the law.
