Colored Glass: Lagos CP guides the application, warns the officers against extortion

The Lagos State Police Command intensified its application of the law that regulates the use of colored glass on vehicles on October 3, 2025, with the guided operation and personally monitored by the police commissioner, the CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh.

The exercise, which began on October 2, is in line with the existing laws and directives of the police inspector, PGI Kayodo Adeolu Egbetokun.

The CP Jimh was on the field with its officers to ensure that the application was performed strictly but with a high level of professionalism.

The CP Jimoh reiterated that the application was designed to improve public safety, curb criminal activities and guarantee adhesion to road safety rules, not for the citizens respectful citizens of the law.

“The command highly recommends vehicle owners to immediately respect a permit while the vehicle owners must register for the colored glass permit approved on www.possap.gov.ng,” he said.

The command also stated that those who do not seek a permit must remove unauthorized colors or replace the colorful glass in the factory with the transparent ones, as required by the motor vehicles law (prohibition of the tinged glass), 2004.

“The vehicles found without valid permits will be seized and the offenders will be pursued,” said the cp.

CP Jimh has issued a strong directive to all police staff, commanding them to conduct the exercise free from harassment or extortion.

He underlined that any officer found engaged in the misconduct will face disciplinary measures, with also their commanders who are considered virtuously responsible.

The command urged the public to collaborate with the officers during the year, underlining that the operation was in the collective interest of safety.
