President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed the commitment of the federal government against local content, of the technology transfer and the Empowerment of the Nigerians while commissioned the first phase of the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway and several important road projects throughout the country.

At the Lagos ceremony on Saturday, the president Tinubu directed the Minister of Works, David Umahi and other ministers who supervise the projects across the country to ensure full compliance with the laws on local content, the training of the Nigerians and the transfer of technology.

He underlined that the government will no longer compensate for developers who are unable to observe setbacks and legal approvals, underlining the need for urban planning and the rule of law.

“Let me warn all the developers that the Federal Government will apply the setbacks. If not, but for the interest of the nation. The developers who cannot get approvals will not be compensated. We have developed and published the setback and we will apply it somehow possible,” he said.

The president recognized the role of the engineer Ronald Chagoury in the arrest of the advance of the Atlantic Ocean and in saving Victoria Island and Ikoyi, exhorting greater support to the future in “being impossible” in the construction of Nigeria’s infrastructure.

“I said we would do it, and we did it. We avoided a disaster greater than a Tsunami to Victoria Island and Ikoyi,” he added.

The president appealed to the Nigerians to be more patient with the government.

“I want to appeal to all the Nigerians that hope is here. Our economy is recovering,” he said, highlighting the stability of the changes and the reduction of food prices.

President Tinubu thanked the Minister of Works, Contractors and Nigerians, in particular those of Lagos, for supporting the projects and urged them to protect them and keep them for posterity.

“It is with great pleasure, pride and a sense of fulfillment that today I am about to commission the completed part of the Lagos coastal motorway corridor.

“This is Phase I: Section I: Ahmadu Bello Way to the area of ​​the village of Eleko in the Lekki peninsula, a section of the iconic 700 km project that covers the coastal areas of Ogun, Ondo, Delta, Edo, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa-Ibom and Cross River.

The projects commissioned by the President in the South-South region are the rehabilitation of Section II of the Calabar-Bucep-Katsina-Ala road (Ugep-Katsina-Ala) in the States of Benue/Cross River, Dualization of Section II of the East Road (Sub Section I) Elema Giunzione in Port Harcourt-Ahoada in the State of Rivers; Rehabilitation of the Alesi-Bucep section (Iyamoyung-Bugep) in the cross river state. President Tinubu commissioned Section III of Enugu-Port Harcourt Road, Enugu-Lokpanta, Eenugu-Lokpanta, in the South-East area, a new bridge in Akpoha, in the state of Ebonyi, to replace the almost scalded bridge; Reconstruction of the collapse of the Enugu bridge in the new ENGUG-SORTGUT ROAD ENGUGT-SORGUT-STORE MARKET IN THE ENUGUY STATE.

Other projects commissioned in the southwestern area are: rehabilitation, construction and expansion of section II Lagos-Shagamu-Ibadan with double roadway in the state of Oyo; Rehabilitation of the Ikorodu-Shagamu road in the state of Lagos; Complete repair of emergency of the Eko bridge (4.1 km) in the state of Lagos (from Alaka, Surulere-ampongbon including all the ramps); The construction of the access road to the port of deep water in the state of Lagos through EPE up to Shagamu-Benin Expressway in the States of Lagos and Ogun.

In the central-northern area, the president Tinubu commissioned the construction of the Shendam bridge in the state of the plateau and the Ilobu-Enerile road in the states of Kwara and Osun.

In the northern -eastern area, he commissioned the Jimeta bridge in Yola, the state of Adamawa.

In the north-western area, he commissioned the reconstructed roads of Yakasai Badume-Damargu-Marken in the state of Kano and the reconstruction of Kano-Kwanar Danja Hadeja Section II: Kano-Tsalle in the state of Kano and Jigawa.

President Tinubu reported the following new projects: Ibadan-Iphe-Elesha-Akure-Benin Road in Oyo, Osun, Ondo and Edo States; Strada-Terce construction nembe; Construction of a section of ENUGU-HONITSHA roadway (total length of 107 km); And rehabilitation of Zaria-Hunkuyi-Kufur-Gidan Mutum Daya Road in the States of Kaduna/Kano.

In addition, the president reported the dualization of Kano-Maiduguri Road, connecting Kano-Jigawa-Bauchi-Yobe and Borno State (Section I: Kano-Wudil-shuarin), which has a total duration of 105 km; the construction of Kano Northern Bypass Road in the state of Kano; And the construction of Maiduguri Bypass Road.

Senator Godswill Akapbio, president of the Senate, assured the president of greater support of the National Assembly to reposition the country’s economy.

The Minister of Works observed that the Federal Government has spent n18 billion dollars to compensate all the people affected by the construction of the Lagos-Calabar coastal motorway.

Umahi said that the president has directed that all projects must consider the well -being of the Nigerians and the sustainability issues.

The governors of Lagos, Delta, Ogun, Edo, Bayelsa, Borno, Ekiti, Kogi, Ondo, Cross River and Imo participated in the event.

Prof. Wole Soyinka of the Nobel Prize, the National Security Councilor Nuhu Ribadu, the Chagoury brothers and the contractors attended the event.

The captains of the sector, including Aliko Dargote, Abdulsamad Rabiu and the president of the UBA group Tony Elumelu, participated in the commissioning ceremony.
