It is designed to promote youth participation in sports and facilitate the discovery of talents through the provision of essential kits, including football boots, training team and shirts.

Speaking at the official flag ceremony, speaker of the house, Rt. Excmo Tajudeen Abbas, asked legislators to prioritize investments in sports development on infrastructure projects that often remain incomplete. He emphasized the urgent need to return to sports at the base level as a basis for national achievement on the global stage.

“It is unacceptable that a country of more than 230 million people returned from international competitions without medals, while the smallest nations stand out,” Abbas said. “To claim our sports glory, we must rebuild from scratch.”

The speaker criticized the generalized establishment of underutilized skills acquisition centers and urged legislators to channel resources to community -based sports initiatives. He praised the effort of the Sports Committee as a significant and timely intervention.

“This is the first time that I have seen the sports committee overcome expectations within such a short period. His work is exemplary and must be replicated by other committees,” Abbas added.

President of the Chamber Sports Committee, Hon. Kabiru Amadu (Mai Palace), reaffirmed the house’s commitment to revitalize base sports in Nigeria. He pointed out that each constituency would receive a part of the distributed team, with the legislators responsible for ensuring that the materials reach local communities.

“This is more than a symbolic gesture. It is a strategic step to revive sports commitment and raising talent in the bases,” said Amadu, who represents the Federal constituency Gusau/Tsafe.

He also announced that the next phase of the program would focus on the construction of mini stadiums throughout the country, providing a sustainable base for long -term sports development.
