A group, all the Stakeholders of the Progressives Congress in the State of Niger said that the State is not well represented on the Board of Directors and in the executive management of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC).
In a declaration signed by his secretary general Dr. Mohammed K. Santuraki (Santurakin Nupe), the group complained that only a non -executive director and a position of executive director have been assigned to the state of the Niger.
“This is not very short of what the state rightly deserves,” he said.
Santuraki said that the position of the interested parties of the Niger is based on the political and electoral support that the state of the Niger has given to this administration and on the fact that the state of the Niger has admitted the position of the headquarters of the Nasarawa Commission.
According to him, “we give to revisit the facts: during the presidential elections of 2023, the state of the Niger delivered over 375,000 votes; the highest in the central area of the north, the highest fourth in the north of Nigeria and sixth nationally.
“In addition, we obtained two out of three senator seats, 70% of the chamber of representative seats and delivered an APC governor. This strong support show cannot and should not be neglected.
“In addition, the state of the Niger initially contested for the position of the NCDC headquarters together with the state of Nasarawa.
“We kindly discharged and admitted the headquarters of the headquarters in Nasarawa.
“Our expectation was clear: that this concession would have been recognized through the assignment of at least one of the two main positions of the Commission, whether the CEO/CEO or the President. Deludently, we have not received either of them.”
He said that the decision is not only unjust, but also Mina and is insensitive to the delicate ethno-cultural diversity and the political balance of the North Center region.
He said the appointments as a stand, favor one block of the region against the other.
According to him, “the area is widely divided into two ethno-cultural blocks; the Benue-Plateau-Nasarawa axis and the Niger-Kogi-Kwara-Fct axis.
“Therefore, politically and morally imperative that the main offices of the President and CEO are shared in these blocks.
“At present, both the best positions, together with the commission headquarters, are concentrated in a block, the Benue-Pilateau-Nasarawa axis.”
He urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene and repair the evident imbalance, saying that “the state of the Niger has gained his place through loyalty, sacrifice and contribution. We do not try to favor, but equity”.
