Police officers in Lagos have arrested a couple who tried to sell their two-year-old son to go to Canada.
State police spokesman Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the news to reporters on Thursday in Lagos.
He said the couple were arrested on Tuesday while trying to sell the child.
Hundeyin said: “At 2.45pm on Tuesday, Isolo Divisional Police Officers received information that the couple went to the Isolo General Hospital and expressed their intention to sell their baby boy.

“After receiving the information, officers from the police station immediately moved to the hospital where they intended to sell their child.
“The baby was two years old and he had been rescued. After being interrogated, the couple admitted that they decided to sell the baby so that the man could go to Canada to seek a better life.
“However, the investigation is still ongoing.”
