The Abuja Court of Appeal, on Tuesday, affirmed the restoration of Philip Shaibu as Deputy Governor of Edo State.
Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on July 17 reinstated Shaibu to the post.
The judge, who delivered the verdict in a suit filed by the deputy governor, declared the impeachment by the Edo State House of Representatives as illegal and unconstitutional.
He argued that the impeachment was a serious violation of Article 188 and Article 35 of the 1999 Constitution.
The Edo State House of Assembly impeached Shaibu for alleged gross misconduct on April 8.

This follows the implementation of a report by a seven-man committee set up by the state chief judge, Justice Daniel Okungbowa to investigate the allegations against the deputy governor.
Dissatisfied with the decision, the Panel appealed to the court to overturn it.
In a hearing Tuesday, the appeals court dismissed the appeal as without merit.
The panel added that the lower court had taken the right decision by reinstating Shaibu as Edo deputy governor.
