Court rejects bid to remove Ganduje as APC chairman

Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Monday dismissed a suit seeking the removal of Abdullahi Ganduje as National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The judge delivered the verdict in a lawsuit filed by the North-Central APC Forum led by Saleh Zazzaga.

The forum in the suit noted: FHC/ABJ/CS/599/2024 changed the appointment of Ganduje as the national chairman of the APC even though he is not from the North-Central region.

The plaintiffs urged the court to annul the appointment as it violated the party’s constitution.

The former governor of Kano state, the APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) are listed as respondents in the suit.

In his ruling, the judge accepted APC’s initial objections to the application.

The party in its counter-affidavit urged the court to dismiss the lawsuit because the plaintiff did not have the necessary locus standi to file the lawsuit.

Ekwo also accepted INEC’s objection stating that the forum was not a registered body.

He argued that the group did not have the authority to file the lawsuit because it was not a registered body.

“I hereby dismiss this lawsuit due to the plaintiff’s lack of legal personality.

“The plaintiff does not have locus standi to bring the suit and I issue an order dismissing the suit for lack of locus standi,” the judge ruled.
