Judge James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Thursday sentenced a Boko Haram terrorist, Auwalu Samaila, to death by hanging.
The judge sentenced Samaila to death after he pleaded guilty to six terrorism charges filed against him by the Federal Government.
“When a person regrets and asks God for forgiveness, only then can he receive forgiveness from him.
“The convict before me has no regrets despite the many atrocities and lives lost at his hands.
“May God have mercy on his soul,” said the judge.
The federal government, in an indictment marked: FHC/KNJ/CR/122/2026, charged Samaila with terrorism-related offenses as sole defendant.
In one of the indictments, the convict was accused of taking part in attacks in Damboa, Borno State, between 2012 and 2017, which killed civilians and military personnel.
He is also suspected of taking part in the attack on Gombi in Adamawa that killed many civilians.
Samaila was also accused of taking part in a terror attack on Hong in Adamawa “in which civilians were killed.”
