Nigeria Hadin Kai’s operations forces have expelled a Major Boko Haram Ambush in the state of Borno, killing 13 terrorists and restoring weapons after a fierce shootout.
The clash occurred on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, near Kareto in the Mobbar regional government area, while the army escorted humanitarian aid trucks along Jalan Gubio -damasak.
A military source, who spoke on anonymous condition, said the rebels launched attacks with explosives and heavy shots.
“The terrorists during the failure operation, detonated two Eid commands, followed by high volume of fire. However, the dashing troops, quickly took positions and professionally pressed the rebels with extraordinary fire power, eliminating 13 rebels instantly, while others disrupted chaos,” explained the officer.
The troops chased the fighters who fled and confiscated a significant cache of weapons.
“Further troops that involve terrorists in pursuit, exploit the area and recover 8 AK-47 rifles, ten AK-47 rifles magazines and 7.62 mm large ammunition cache.

The military confirmed that one soldier was slightly injured and in a stable condition. Four mrap tires were damaged and two escort trucks were destroyed at the meeting.
Apart from the attack, the purpose of the mission was achieved when the supply of assistance reached Damasak under military protection.
“The troops have experienced intentional operations in the general area to deny the freedom of terrorist acting while continuing humanitarian operations in providing security to assistance material which has since been secured and transferred to Damasak,” the officer said.
Kareto and the surrounding community in North Borno have experienced rebel attacks repeatedly in recent years, but a failed ambush on Wednesday which failed to underline the ongoing push to neutralize terrorist threats in the region.
