The Chairman/Chief Executive of the Nigerians in the Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), the Honorable Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has congratulated Dr. Anne-Marie Imafidon, MBE, on her appointment as Chancellor of Glasgow Caledonian University, United Kingdom.
In a congratulatory message, Dabiri-Erewa described Dr Imafidon’s appointment as Chancellor as well deserved, taking into account her antecedents and her quest for success.
The NIDCOM chief said Nigeria is proud of the brilliant achievements of Anne-Marie, who broke records and set standards unimaginable at her young age, earning her the prestigious commission to continue serving humanity.
Dahiru-Erewa, while praying for the success and important tenure of Imafidon, acknowledged that he had received his invitation to attend the inauguration of the prestigious Chancellor scheduled for July 2, as the special guest of Dr. Anne-Marie Imafidon , saying it’s a great honor for her.
He urged her not to rest on her oars being a pioneer and to continue to motivate others to be the best in all their endeavours.
Imafidon, in addition to being the youngest leader of a non-private University and the youngest scientist to become Rector of a multidisciplinary University, has now become the youngest Rector of a large University.
This feat he achieved started with his siblings when they joined the tutoring program ExcellenceInEducation.org.uk. A program that takes care of inner city children.
During his time there, he gained worldwide recognition as the youngest person to achieve A-Levels in computer science and mathematics, followed by a scholarship to Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, USA, at the young age of 13.
Dr. Anne-Marie said in a statement: “Being welcomed into an institution that strives for the common good is one of the greatest honors of my life.”
