The management of Dangote Industries Limited (Dil) has, in a quick reply, denied the involvement of the company’s trailer in a recent Enugu accident.
The denial also came when the identity of the owner of the trailer emerged which crushed an entire family.
Subsequent media reports and various media have confirmed that the truck involved in the fatal accident belongs to Visco Investment Global Limited, a third party operator.
“We are actively working on the appropriate agencies to determine why the truck in question was bringing our logo, despite not being part of our fleet.
“Going forward, greater control will be applied to the unauthorized use of our brand identity, in particular the improper use of our logo on vehicles not affiliated to the group.
“Although it is our policy not to publicly comment on the individual cases, we are forced to face the growing diffusion of disinformation by attributing these accidents to the Dongote group without any proven proof.
: We urge the public and the media to refrain from the circular not verified statements.
“We are committed to fully cooperate with the authorities concerned and urge that those who are in charge of investigating the accidents of this nature are authorized to carry out their responsibilities without an undue interference.
“We categorically refuse any attempt to exploit these tragedies for harmful or financial gain.
“The Dangote Group remains firm in supporting the highest standards of corporate responsibility, safety and integrity in all our operations,” said Dangote Industries Limited Management.
