Dauda confession: Zamfara Forum urges Tinubu to freeze the allocation of the state, to declare emergency

The Zamfara Good Governance Forum (ZGGF) invited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to freeze federal allocations in the state of Zamfara and impose the emergency rule.

The question follows what the group has described as the “shocking admission” of the governor Dauda Lawal to know the hiding places of the bandit bosses who have terrified the state for years.

Speaking in Gusau, the forum secretary, Muhammad Ibrahim Mafara, accused the governor of having betrayed public trust and of having failed in his simpler duty of protecting citizens.

“This is not just unconsciousness; it is a direct admission of complicity,” Mafara said to journalists.

“If a sitting governor openly claims knowledge of where terrorists live and operate, but does nothing to stop them, then he is guilty in front of the people.”

The forum stressed that governor Lawal receives over 600 million ₦ every month in security votes, but Zamfara communities remain under siege.

Mafara said that this is equivalent to “feeding criminals from the government house” while innocent citizens are massacred.

He also accused the governor of chairing a corrupt system in which the local government funds are stolen, leaving the presidents of the Council renounced Gusau instead of serving their communities.

According to the forum, Lawal’s recent observations were an attempt to distract from his failures of governance and to move responsibility to the federal government.

The ZGGF urged the Commission for economic and financial crimes, the Department of State Services and the National Security Adviser office to start a joint investigation.

He also requested an investigation by the National Assembly on the management of the Governor of Security Intelligence and Public Funds.

Mafara warned that if the investigations establish complicity, the federal government must act decisively.

“Zamfara has become an murder field under the Lawal watch. Innocent citizens are dying, destroyed villages, desert agricultural land.

“We cannot continue to suffer while the governor plays politics with people’s lives,” he said.

The forum ended insisting on the fact that only the emergency rule can restore peace, order and dignity to the troubled state.
