Senator David Mark and the late Pope Francis


[Press Release] The former president of the Senate, Senator David Mark, expressed sadness for the death of Pope Francis.

Senator Mark described Pope Francis as an impeccable man who brought transformation together and in fact strengthened family ties to the Catholic Church.

It will be remembered that Senator Mark led the delegation of the Federal Government of Nigeria at the inauguration of the Pontiff on March 19, 2013, to St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican.

Pope Francis described as a rare gift to the world that would have been seriously lost.

Senator Mark recalled the first mass celebrated by Pope Francis that day before the world leaders when he concentrated on the solemnity of St. Joseph, the liturgical day on which Mass was celebrated.

Senator Mark said: “The release of Pope Francis is a huge loss for the world but a gain in heaven. He was a leader with distinction and character. It was a rare jewel”.

He prayed that the legacy of humility, sacrifice, service of Pope Francis would be welcomed.

Senator Mark urged the Catholic faithful all over the world to console in the fact that Pope Francis lived a life worthy of emulation.
