Dean Dean of Unical Claims Cases in Alleged Sexual Harassment

Dean Dean suspended, Faculty of Law, Calabar University (Unical), Prof. Cyril Ndifon, on Friday closed his defense in the trial due to alleged sexual harassment at the Federal High Court, Abuja.

Judge James Omotosho postponed this problem until July 2 to adopt the final written address after Ndifon’s lawyer, Joe Agi (San), showed his intention to close his case.

The professor closed his defense after calling two witnesses to fight the accusations that were made against him and the defendant’s colleague, Sunny Anyanwu, by the Independent Corruption Practice and other related violation commissions (ICPC).

While Ndifon is a witness to the first defender (DW-1), CSP Babagana Mingali, a forensic analyst, who works in the National Security Advisory Office (ONSA) laboratory, is DW-2.

Judge Omotosho on March 6, 2024, rejected the submission without a case submitted by Ndifon and Anyanwu against the accusation.

The judge, in the verdict, stated that the evidence led by the prosecutor was a prime facie case against the defendants.

Therefore, he ordered Ndifon and Anyanwu to enter their defense.

ICPC has submitted four calculations of Ndifon and Anyanwu, who are members of the defense team.

They were accused of alleged sexual harassment, virtual crime and trying to distort the course of justice.

ICPC accused that Ndifon, when serving as the Dean of the Faculty of Law at Unical, asked a female diploma student, identified as a TKJ, to send him “pornography, indecent, and self -photographs that are indecent” through WhatsApp.

Anyanwu joined the allegations that were submitted on January 22, 2024, by the commission for allegedly calling students, who were star witnesses, on their cellphones during the density of the accusations of Ndifon to threaten him.

They, however, claimed to be innocent for all accusations.

The commission closed the case on February 14, 2024.

ICPC advisor, Osuobeni Akponimisingha, told Judge Omotosho after Bwaigu Fungo, after a forensic and intelligence analyst with the commission, was crossed by the defender lawyer.
