Death of Shia Fuel Prisoners Allegations of Police Brutiness in Palestinian Protest

The wave of anger has hit the Islamic movement, commonly known as the Shi’a, after the death of a “free Palestinian” protesters detained. This group accused the Nigerian security institution, especially the police, fatal persecution of those who were arrested after the 28 March 2025 demonstration.

This movement has promised a strong legal action and prayer to those who are responsible.

The deceased, Huzaifa Muhammad from Budun Ya, Katsina state, reportedly died on Monday, April 7, 2025, around 6 pm when held at the Detention Facility of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) in Guzape, Abuja.

The accusation was leveled during the press briefing in Abuja, where Sheikh Sidi Munir Mainasara, spoke for the Islamic movement led by Sayyid Ibraheem Zakzaky, detailed what he described as a series of serious human rights violations.

“We have recently received shocking news that the free Palestinian protesters who were detained by the FCT police command since March 28, 2025 were dying in detention,” Shaikh Mainasara said. “Among those who had just died were Shaheed Huzaifa Muhammad from the Budos, Katsina, which reached Kemartiran on Monday, April 7, 2025, around 6 pm at the IRT facility in Guzape, Abuja.”

Mainasara also accused that at least 27 protesters had been killed, with 26 reportedly killed during the initial security crush on March 28, 2025. This, according to him, highlighted a clear contradiction in the government’s attitude, referring to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar Tuggar about Israel’s actions in Gaza on March 20.

“Demonstrating solidarity with the Palestinian people is not a foreign concept for the administration of the President of the Football President Ahmed Tinubu,” he stressed, juxtaposed the minister’s comments with the alleged federal direction to suppress Abuja’s protest.

Shiites have vowed to hold the federal government accountability for the ongoing death and detention. “Considering this development, we will hold the federal government, led by President Tinubu, who is responsible for the murder of 27 free Palestinian protesters. We also vow to pray against all those who ordered or committed the murder and arrest for 2025 Abuja International Quds Day,” Mainasara said.

This group is determined to pursue a legal path to challenge alleged violations, the brand of action as a crime against humanity.

“While condemning this heinous crime against humanity, we are determined to challenge every example of harassment of human rights caused by a free Palestinian protesters in court,” Mainasara emphasized, further stating their commitment to peaceful resistance through prayer and legal processes.
