Defamation: the court postponed Natasha’s trial until October 27

Judge Chizoba Oji from the Federal Capital High Court (FCT) on Tuesday was postponed until October 27 The trial in the initial objection submitted by the Senator representing West Kogi in the National Assembly, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

Akpoti-Uduaghan was charged with the federal government for allegedly slandering the President of the Senate Godswill Akpabio, and the former Governor of the State Kogi. Yahaya Bello.

He was charged with a criminal charge of three counts of dangerous imputation during television interviews.

He, however, claimed to be innocent for the accusation.

MPs are given a guarantee in the number of N50 million and one guarantor in the same amount on May 15.

Judge Oji postponed the problem after the objection submitted by the Senator to the competence of the accusation.

Akpoti-Uduaghan advisor, Ehighioge West-Idahosa (SAN), preceded objections to the alleged abuse of the power of prosecution by the Office of the Attorney General Agung Federation (AGF).

He said that he filed a claim against his client at the Federal High Court and the High Court of the Federal Capital City for the same subject matter and the same complaint was the abuse of court procedures

Previously, legal counsel, David Kaswe, told the court about his readiness to open the case against the defendant.

He said his first witness, Abdulhaheez Garba, a police supervisor, was in court to testify with the defendant.

He asked permission from the court to call the witness into the witness box.

However, this was opposed by West-Idahosa because his client had submitted a motion of notification, challenging the competence of accusations and court jurisdiction.

He added that the motion had been served on AGF as required by the law, but the latter had not yet responded.

After listening to the party’s argument, Oji postponed the trial until October 27 to allow AGF to respond to the motion.

AGF’s senator movements and responses will be heard on the same day.
