Media businessman and former presidential candidate, Dele Momodu, have revealed that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has a male agreement with former President Olusegun Obasanjo to replace him after their first term of office, which began in 1999.
Momodu, a prominent voice in the political space of Nigeria’s opposition, made revelation in an article published on his Facebook page on Friday. According to him, the informal understanding between the two leaders is that Atiku will take over the presidency after Obasanjo’s four years of office. However, the alleged agreement was not realized.
“The agreement is that he will take over after their first term of office, but it fails even though there is great support from the majority of governors,” Momodu wrote.
He further accused that after the details of the agreement, Obasanjo gradually released Atiku from the role and influence of the main constitutional, effectively isolating him during their second term of office (2003-2007).

Apart from political betrayal, Momodu praised the restraint of Atiku, describing his response to the fall as one of the “unusual balance.”
Atiku served as vice president from 1999 to 2007 and remained a recurring figure in the politics of President Nigeria, fighting many times under various party platforms. In the latest 2023 elections, he appeared as runner-up behind the President of the Ball Ahmed Tinubu from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Momodu also praised the achievements of the Atiku Post Office, describing it as a business success and political resilience.
“He is a man with a touch of midas and has his fingers in many useful PAIs,” wrote Momodu, contrasting with Atiku with some of his contemporary people who, according to him, still depend on financially and politically in public office.
