A leading tribal chief from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Dele Momodu, has appealed to Bola President Ahmed Tinubu not to promote the Federal Capital Minister (FCT), Nyesom Wike, quoting concerns over ministerial character and behavior.
In a statement that was written issued in response to Wike’s criticism of him in the television politics of the channel today on Monday, Momodu urged the President to reconsider any political alliance with the former Governor of the State Rivers before the 2027 election.
“My appeal to Ball President Ahmed Tinubu is that no matter what you expect from Wike in 2027, Wike is not the type of character you must promote; He is not the type of youth who must hijack our general heritage,” Momodu said.
Media Mogul Media and Ovation Magazine Publisher accused Wike in a fundamental manner of being changed by political power, said the transformation began after he became the Chairperson of the Regional Government at the Rivers State.
“When a man who became anyone gained strength, he began to change slowly and steadily,” Momodu stressed. “The oppressed man only respects one person: oppressors. Wike used to only respect one person – Rotimi Amaechi.”

He further suggested that Wike’s political path had been driven by unhealthy attachments to strength and wealth. “Of course, after power in Nigeria came the spirit of money. It was also very devil if you don’t know how to manage it well,” he added.
Considering their previous friendship, Momodu said that his relationship with Wike began seriously in 2022 when Governor Rivers State at that time invited him for the media coverage of the State projects. He claimed that Wike benefited from his professional expertise in branding and reputation management before their relationship deteriorated during the preliminary election of the 2023 PDP President.
Both of them fought over PDP tickets, finally lost to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. Since then, their political relations have worsened publicly.
Wike, who ruled Rivers State from 2015 to 2023, was appointed as Minister of FCT by President Tinubu in August 2023, a step that was interpreted as part of a broader political rearrangement after the 2023 general election.
Momodu’s statement came in the midst of speculation on the influence of wike politics in the future and the role he might play in the calculation of the re -election of President Tinubu 2027.
