Senator representing Delta South Senatorial District, Joel-Onowakpo Thomas has expressed dissatisfaction over Saturday’s local government elections in the state.
The lawmaker, who was addressing journalists in Emede, Isoko South local government area of the state, alleged collusion between the Delta Independent National Electoral Commission (DSIEC) and the Peoples Democratic Party in the election.
He added that the DSIEC failed to release sensitive materials for the election, thereby conspiring with the PDP to perpetrate irregularities in the election.
According to the senator, sensitive materials including result sheets and ballot papers were not distributed to voters to exercise their right to vote.
He stressed that such actions constitute election fraud and endanger the integrity and credibility of the election.

Thomas argued that the PDP was aware of the strength of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its readiness to take over local government affairs in the state.
He said: “The PDP conspired with the DSIEC to manipulate the electoral process and deny citizens their fundamental right to vote.
“Democracy around the world is about the will of the people.
“The PDP-led government has once again destroyed Delta’s democratic legacy. This is undemocratic and unacceptable.”
