[Developing] Natasha arrives in court for the arrangement by alleged defamation
The suspended senator representing the Central Senatorial District of Kogi, Natasha Akpoti-Auduaghan, arrived at the high court of the territory of the federal capital, Maitama, in Abuja for his accusation for the alleged defamation.
Akpoti-Unduaghan entered the classroom around 10:30, before the session scheduled to start at 11:00, waiting for the entrance of the chasm judge.
The accusation was presented by the director of the public prosecutors of the Federation, Mohammed Abubakar, on behalf of the Federal Government against Senator Akpoti-Auduaghan.
For the criminal accusation, marked Cr/297/25, the Federal Government accuses Senator Akpoti-Auduaghan, the only defendant, of making defamatory statements against the president of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, during a live television broadcast.
The accusation listed the president of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, and the former governor of the state of Kogi, Yahaya Bello, as nominal denunciations.
He said that the senator said that Bello had conspired with Akpabio to orchestrate his assassination outside Abuja, masking him as a crowd or a local attack.
According to the Federal Government, these accusations were made during a live broadcast on the “Politics TODAY” channels on April 3, 2025.
The FG claimed that Akpoti-Usuaghan made these accused consciously or unwary, fully aware of being able to damage the reputation of the people involved.
He presumed himself that he said: “We ask the president of the Senate because he first withdrew my security, if not to make me vulnerable to attacks? So he stressed that I should be killed, but I should be killed in Kogi. What is important for me is to stay alive because the dead do not tell stories. Who is about to get justice for me?”
The accusation also mentioned his statements during the program, “which you, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Usaghan, on 3 or about April 3, 2025, during the same policy program on the television of the channels in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory, made the following imputation concerning Yahaya Adoza Bello, former governor of Kogi State.
‘He was part of the meeting, the discussions that Akpabio had with Yahaya beautiful that night, to eliminate me. When he met with him, he stressed that I should have been killed, but I should be killed in Kogi. “
“You knew or had reason to believe that these charges would damage the reputation of Yahaya Adoza Bello, a former governor of the state of Kogi.”
The senator was also accused of having released defamatory declarations on the president of the Senate Akpabio during a telephone conversation with Sandra C. Duru in Abuja on March 27, 2025. The alleged declaration is the following:
“That girl who was killed, as it is called, Umm Imoren Iniubong, his organs were actually used for his wife, because his wife was really sick … when they killed the girl and her organs were used for his wife.”
The federal government claimed that Senator Akpoti-Auduaghan knew or should have known that this statement would damage the reputation of senator Godswill Akpabio.
In addition, Akpabio, beautiful and four others were listed as witnesses for the process.
