DHQ rejected the MNJTF Niger withdrawal report

The defense headquarters has rejected the report of the withdrawal of the Republic of Niger from the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF).

Director of Defense Media Operations, Major. Markus Kangye, who spoke to the media on Thursday in Abuja, emphasized the important role of MNJTF in regional security.

He said the effort must be made to prevent any member country from leaving security clothing.

Kangye said: “I believe this problem has been the topic of discussion over the past few months, especially after several Ecowas members decided to form an alliance.

“However, a multinational joint task force was established by the Lake Chad commission states to overcome the problem of joint security.

“Nigeria has made significant efforts to ensure the sustainability of this task force.

“However, if there are members who decide to withdraw, the implications will be significant. The synergy that we rely on may no longer be there.

“It is not our interest for any country to leave because their challenges also affect us. Withdrawals created gaps and weaken the power of contingents from the country.

“Therefore, efforts must be made to prevent such situations. We will continue to monitor the situation and, as usual, provide further updates if necessary.”

He also responded to concerns about military operations, rejecting the claim that efforts to terrorists, cow’s sadness, and shepherd had been increased.

He reiterated that the operation was ongoing and that the target was of high value, such as the famous terrorist leader Bello Turji, was still being pursued.
