Doctor’s strike: Lagos Federal Hospital records full compliance

Doctor Resident at a federal government -owned hospital throughout the state of Lagos has fully complying with the five -day commemoration strikes declared by the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD).

A correspondent from the Nigerian News Agency (NAN), who visited the Neuro-Psychiatric Federal Hospital, Yaba; Lagos University (Lut) teaching hospital; And the National Orthopedic Hospital, IGBOBI, on Friday, observed that doctors of the population were not in tasks in full compliance with instructions.

The strike follows the end of the 24 -hour ultimatum issued to the federal government, after the previous 10 days, which ended on September 10, failed to produce any resolution. Nard demands include the release of 2025 medical residency training funds, five -month arrears payments from the revised consolidated medical salary structure, as well as specialist and danger allowances circulating.

Speaking of development, the President of the Resident Doctor Association in Lut, Dr. Benjamin Uyi, urged the federal government to immediately overcome the problem before the end of the strike to allow doctors to continue the work. He stressed that the demand was too late and was directly bound to the welfare of medical practitioners, which he described was very important for the provision of quality health care.

In the same tone, the President of the Resident Doctor Association at the National Orthopedic Hospital, Igbobi, Dr. Babatunde Egberongbe, described the situation as “unfavorable,” lamenting the tendency of the federal government to allow disputes in the health sector to increase to strike. He warned that the poor working conditions that continued to encourage many Nigerian doctors to look for opportunities abroad, worsen the shortage of medical professionals in the country.
