“Don’t join the Nigerian army to be killed cheaply by northern terrorists,” IPOB warned S’east’s youth

The IGBO separatist group that is prohibited, the native of Biafra (IPOB), has warned young people from Southeast not to join the Nigerian army after the new announcement that the recruitment of the troops had begun.

The pro-BIFRA group that gave a warning in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Secretary of the Media and Publicity, Emma Powerful, accused that young recruits, especially from southeast were easily killed by terrorists from the north or used as cannon food in military operations that were political motivated.

IPOB also accused the Nigerian government of continuing to sacrifice IgBO soldiers in the war against Boko Haram and other terror groups, citing viral reports and video army that lamented poor welfare conditions, lack of equipment, and inadequate support from high military commands.

“The Nigerian army continues to recruit large amounts every year, not because of national interests, but because the army is dying in flocking or resigning because of poor morals,” Powerful said in the statement.

“Many of those who joined in recent years have perished or disappeared in a suspicious state.

“The Nigerian army was involved in the Klandestin operation related to international interests, especially Western strength and sustainable recruitment related to the economic community of West African countries (Ecowas) to mobilize conflict troops in the Sahel region. We know that the Nigerian Army acted as a proxy for Western imperialists.

“Every IGBO youth who registered will be handed over to northern terrorists, killed in battle, or again disabled and abandoned. Don’t let yourself be used in war that is not yours,” IPOB warned.

This group warned IGBO youth that instead of joining the Nigerian army, they had to go to their local community and focus on agriculture and local development.

“Return to your village and agriculture. That is a better fate than returning home with a disgrace – or not returning at all,” he said.
