The Direct Trucking Company Driver Association (DTCDA) has released a declaration relating to the threat of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and of natural gas workers (Nupeng) to strike starting from Monday 8 September 2025.
The DTCDA, which represents drivers in the transport sector, including those who work with the main companies such as Dangote and Mrs, has expressed concern about the potential impact on the regular flow of oil products in the country.
The DTCDA, in a declaration by its national president, Barr. Enoch Kanawa, he underlined that the Nigerian Constitution guaranteed freedom of association, allowing people to choose with what organication or union they wanted to associate.
The association stated that he aimed to promote the well-being of his members, including health workers, insurance and pension performance, in particular post-release.
The DTCDA claimed to have supported the deregulation of the sector downstream of the Nigerian economy and the renewed agenda of the hope of the president.
The Association stated that it believes that any action that interrupted the regular flow of oil products in the country was a disservice and should be condemned by all the Nigerians and the general public.
■ called to action
The DTCDA urged the federal government and its agencies to adopt the measures necessary to prevent any organization of recruiting members by coercion, which would have violated the right constitutionally guaranteed to freedom of association, thought and expression.
