The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, congratulated Christians in the nation’s capital on the successful completion of the 40 days of Lenten fasting, while extending warm greetings to all residents as they join the global Christian community in celebrating Easter.
In a goodwill message to FCT residents, the minister said Easter, which commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ, is a profound symbol of new beginnings and “renewed hope” for all Nigerians.
Wike noted that the Easter period offers Christians an opportunity to reflect on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ and urged residents to rededicate themselves to the service of the nation and foster a spirit of harmony within their communities.
He said: “This Easter season offers us an opportunity to reflect on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, and for new beginnings and renewed hope. I urge residents of the FCT, especially Christian faithful, to use the occasion of Easter celebrations to rededicate themselves to the virtues of love and service to our homeland.”
He also prayed that the joy of the season would fill the hearts and homes of all FCT residents, encouraging them to demonstrate “Christian” compassion and kindness towards one another.
“As we celebrate, let us remember the values of love, compassion and kindness that Easter represents. We can continue to work together to build a community that reflects these values, where all can live in peace and prosperity,” he said.
He assured residents that the FCT administration has implemented comprehensive safety measures to ensure a smooth celebration.
He said: “I want to assure you that the FCT administration is committed to ensuring your safety. Adequate measures are in place to ensure a peaceful and enjoyable Easter celebration, so that you can focus on what matters most: family, friends and faith.”
He used the occasion to acknowledge the transformative impact of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration on the FCT, stressing that the ongoing infrastructure revolution in the city and satellite towns was a direct outcome of the President’s Renewed Hope agenda, which he said he was proud to be a part of.
“I also want to use this opportunity to express my appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whose Renewed Hope Agenda has led to significant development in the FCT. His commitment to the advancement of the FCT is evident in the numerous infrastructure projects transforming our territory, and I am proud to be part of this journey towards a more prosperous and harmonious FCT,” he said.
