Ebonyi Assembly calls a mining company for illegal operations

The House of the Ebonyi Assembly has summoned mining companies operating in Ezza-Inyimagu Quarry Pit in the region of the Izzi Regional Government in the state of alleged illegal operations.

Council Public Relations Officer, Bpk. Egede Sylvester, revealed this in a statement on Tuesday in Abakaliki.

The Chairperson of the DPR Committee on the Development of Solid Minerals, Bpk. IFEYAN NWAKPU, asked the company to appear in front of MPs on Thursday.

NWAKPU, who is a member representing the IKWO-NORH constituency, said the company will explain why they operate without signs, names and registration.

He added that the company would explain why they should ask for children -age children in the villages of neighbors to work with them without safety guard.
The Committee, therefore, ordered the closure of the illegal company directly until they comply with the law of mining and safety of the state government.
