Edo PDP Cleaning Candidates for the Election of the National Assembly

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo state has cleaned candidates for the preliminary election of July 21 for the election of the National Council in the state.

What was cleaned for the Edo Central Senatorial District ticket was John Jacobu, that Friday, and Joe Okojie.

For the Federal Ovia constituent, only one candidate, Johnny Aikpitan Sang, was filtered and cleaned as the only party candidate for the House of Representatives with the election.

The Independent National Election Commission (Inec) will conduct an interim election in Edo and 11 other states on August 12.

Edo’s central Senatorial district seat became empty after the Governor Monday Okpebholo’s victory on September 21, 2024, the governor election in the state.

The Federal Ovia constituent seat was emptied by Deputy Governor, Dennis Idahosa.

The Secretary of the PDP Guards Committee in Edo State, Chris Nehikhare, said in a statement on Friday, the film screening was carried out on Tuesday at the party’s state secretariat in Benin City.

He added that the screening panel of five people was appointed by the National Work Committee of the PDP and led by Prof. Okumoko Tubo Pearce, with Mr. Chinomso Odoemelan as Secretary.

Other committee members are Inemo Dede, Evelyn Promise, and David Omare, all of whom are actively participating in screening and cleaning exercises.

He noted that the permit certificate was presented to the candidates on Friday.
