The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) on Thursday charged the Director of Sunsteel, Olarekan Adewoye, at the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja, due to alleged fraud of $ 680,000.
The commission revealed this in a statement posted on its X -grip on Friday.
According to the statement, Adewoye was charged with his company, Sunlek Investments Limited and Sunsteel Industries Limited, on charges of two alleged counts of stealing and getting property for fake reasons.
The statement read: “That you, Olalekan Adewoye, Sunlek Investments Limited and Sunsteel Industries Limited, sometime between 2013 and 2014 in lagos, with the jurisdiction of this honorable court, with a dishonest intent, stole and converted, for your own use, the aggregate sum of $ 680,622.65 (Six Hundred and Eighty Thousand, Six Hundred and Twenty-Two Dollars Sixty-Five Cents), Hexagon IM-OCPOR GMBH & Co Kg Export properties, a German company, which is the value of the construction material given to you, and 1 (1), (2) and (3) of Fraus Fraus Fraus Fraus Advance and other related other related no.
However, the defendant claimed to be innocent for the accusation.

The prosecution advisor, Abdulhamid L. Tukur, asked the court to choose the date of the trial and return the defendant to the Correctional Center.
Defenders’ advisor, Olusegun O. Jolaawo (San), asked the court to allow his clients to continue to enjoy the guarantees given to him by EFCC.
Judge Mojisola Dada ordered that the defendant must continue to enjoy administrative guarantees.
He ordered the defendant to deposit his passport and documents for two property landing with a court registrant.
The judge postponed this case until 3 and 19 June for the start of the trial.
