The commission for economic and financial crimes (EFCC) arrested the former governor of the state of Sokoto Aminu Tambuwal, for alleged fraudulent cash withdrawals on the melody of N189 billion.

Reports reported that Tambuwal, a senator who represents Sokoto South, was arrested after reaching the Feccc headquarters in Abuja around 11:30 am on Monday 11 August 2025.

The former speaker of the House of Representatives is questioned by the anti-Innesto agency in Abuja.

It was said that the cash withdrawals violated the law on money laundering (prevention and prohibition), 2022.

Tambuwal was governor of the state of Sokoto from 2015 to 2023.
