EFCC boss, Olukoede, revealed that Tinubu does not interfere in the affairs of the commission

The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, on Friday, revealed that President Bola Tinubu has refrained from interfering in the activities of the commission since assuming office.

According to Olukoyede, the president never imposed or dictated any directives, but rather allowed the EFCC to operate independently.

A statement on Friday by the Head, Media & Publicity of the EFCC, Dele Oyewale, quoted Olukoyode as making a courtesy call on the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi.

“Since I was appointed as Chairman of the EFCC, the President has never asked me to stop, impose, dictate or set any direction regarding the affairs or activities of the Commission, but the anti-graft agency has so far received adequate support. from the Federal Government to achieve the mandate of the Commission,” Olukoyede said.

He stated that the EFCC had received immense support from the federal government to fulfill its mandate.

Its chairman assured Nigerians that the commission would hold political officials accountable for their actions, and stated that the EFCC would work tirelessly to eradicate corruption and ensure responsible management of resources intended to benefit the people.

Olukoyede stressed that his intention was not to hunt anyone down but to ensure that the president’s strategic plans for a better Nigeria were achieved.

This declaration shows a commitment to upholding the EFCC’s independence and objective efforts in carrying out its anti-corruption mandate.
