A former Minister of Power and Steel, Olu Agunloye, told the Federal Capital High Court (FCT) on Thursday that the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) came out to tarnish his reputation on the Mambilla power project.
The commission, on February 3, 2024, accused the former $ 6 billion fraud in the Mambilla power project.
He was re -issued on the accusations of seven counts that were amended over the fraud of the official contract and corruption awards on the project.
Agunloye spoke when he crossed by EFCC advisor, Wahab Shittu (San), in the case of defamation he proposed to the commission.
The former minister has a summons in the lawsuit, marks the FCT/HC/CV/1199/2024 and submitted by his legal advisor, Adeola Adedipe (SAN), claims that the commission has damaged his good name.
He said: “EFCC dragged my integrity into murky waters by collecting me with corruption and fraud through posts published on its official website.”

He included other allied online platforms, with the statement, “EFCC charged Agunloye more than $ 6 billion in fraud.”
Therefore, he asked the court declaration that the position was wrong and slandered his person.
Agunloye is also looking for orders for EFCC to withdraw the publication that slanders him and apologize for the tender.
He also demanded N1 billion as general damage and examples of EFCC.
“This is an intentional effort by EFCC to encourage things, wrong public information, and painting me as one of the careless ministers involved in the $ 6 billion contract and finally arrested.
“This is an attempt to say that I gave a contract without approval and had received a bribe of N5 million 16 years later and damaged the only property I had, which was my name,” said the former minister.
