EFCC confirmed the arrest of Verydarkman for the alleged cyberstalking

The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) has confirmed the arrest of social media activists, Martins Otse, which is widely known as Verydarkman, following many petitions who accused Cyberstalking.

The head of the EFCC media and publicity, Dele Oyewale, in an interview with BBC Pidgin on Monday, explaining that the arrest was not bound to certain incidents but was based on “a series of accusations” of several people.

“We arrested him to respond to a series of accusations submitted by him by several applicants,” Oyewale said.

He added that the commission would free him when he perfected the guarantee requirements in court.

“We obey the law. He will be released when he meets the guarantee requirements,” the spokesman added.

Contrary to the initial speculation, Oyewale clarified that this case did not have a direct relationship to the Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBBANK), where OTSE was arrested on Friday.

He stressed that the agent was obliged to act on the valid complaints brought to his attention.

The loss of OTSE suddenly triggered waves of concerns online last Friday, with reports circulating that he had been detained in the GTBBANK branch.

Supporters mobilize quickly on social media and demand answers from GTBBANK.

They protested, with several boycots that threatened the bank.

GTBank has not released an official statement as the time to submit this report.

During the weekend, some OTSE followers visited the EFCC office in Abuja in an effort to send food to him, but were rejected by access.

Security personnel tell them that prisoners are not allowed to entertain visitors and that the commission will handle their food internally.
