Eguavoen, Hail Bayelsa’s coaches to Bayelsa’s government while starting

The organizers of the largest base soccer tournament in Nigeria, the soccer tournament of the governor of Bayelsa, popularly known as the Prosperity Cup, have started a training clinic for grassroots coaches in the state of Bayelsa.

Now in its third edition, the training, organized in collaboration with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the Bayelsa State Football Association, is designed to equip local coaches with modern training techniques before the seventh season of the Prosperity Cup.

Declaging the open clinic, president of the Soccer Association of the State of Bayelsa, Barr. Pubeni Ogun described the initiative as a game change for grassroots in the state. He emphasized to advance, no coach can manage a team without a BAF B License training certificate.

He also revealed that efforts were being made to ensure that grassroots coaches obtain the NFF D-License certification, since the certificate of the National Sports Institute (NIS) would no longer be a requirement to administer equipment.

The general director of the Prosperity Cup, Mr. Ono Akpe, in his welcome speech, described the exercise as a preparatory workshop for the next Coaching Certification of License NFF. He pointed out that fifty coaches had been selected for the program, whose objective is to improve their technical capabilities and at the same time raise the quality of football in Bayelsa.

The technical director of NFF and the person of resources of the clinic, Augustine Eguavoen, expressed his confidence in the impact of the program, stating that his dream is to see Bayels’s base coaches administer top -level players in the future. He praised the state government and the organizers of the tournament for their commitment to the development of football.

Local coaches Awala Kpunpamo de Bayelsa FA and Anthony Robert de Agini FC expressed their gratitude to Governor Doye Diri and the organizers of the tournament for investing in the construction of the capacity of grassroots coaches. They believe that the program will modernize training techniques and improve the general soccer standard in the state.

The clinic, which is celebrated at the Nuj Press Center, Azikoro Road, Ekeki, Yenagoa, will work until Friday, with a total of fifty coaches participating.
