Nigeria’s former International Azubuike Egwuekwe has said he never imagined that the Super Eagles B team would suffer a humiliating defeat against Sudan.
Super Eagles B crashed with the Africa (Chan) Nations Championship this year, Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, after a shocking 4-0 defeat against Sudan in his second game of Group D on Tuesday.
Eric Chelle’s team entered the game with the hope of re-heading his campaign after his 1-0 defeat against the Senegal champions Day 1.
But it turned out to be his worst performance, since they have now left the tournament after suffering their heaviest joint defeat in Chan’s history.
Speaking about the shameful loss Egwuekwe, a member of the Super Eagles team that won the AFCon 2013 under the late Stephen Keshi, blamed the poor state of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
“I am very disappointed,” said Egwuekwe, who was part of the Super Eagles B team that won the bronze in his debut in the 2014 edition of Chan, in Brila FM.
“I don’t think we can lose 4-0 against Sudan and this shows that our league is low and the NFF should do something about it.”

Egwuekwe also declared that the low performance of the Super Eagles B team makes it difficult for Chelle to consider them for future tasks.
“How can you now convince the coach to call players at home to the main super -eagles team with this type of performance?”
After two games, Super Eagles B are lower meaningless.
Meanwhile, they will face Congo in their last group game on August 19.
The Congolese, third in the group in two points, needs to win to have the opportunity to advance to the quarterfinals.
Sudan, in four points, heads the group, while Senegal, also in four points, is the second.
