Election of Interim: Inec urges the party, candidates to comply with the law

The Independent National Election Commission (Inec) on Thursday urged political parties, candidates, and all stakeholders who participated in the selection of Saturday to comply with strict compliance with regulations that guided the process.

Commissioner and Chair of the National Inec, the Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Oluumekun, made a call in a statement in Abuja.

He said the commission, at a regular weekly meeting on Thursday, discussed his last presentation for the selection of interruptions, among other things.

He added that the commission also discussed the commencement of Sustainable Voter Registration (CVR) and publication of the candidate’s personal details for the February 21 area council election in the Federal Capital Region (FCT).

According to him, all non-sensitive materials for the selection of interruptions have been sent to affected countries, while election technology, such as the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), has been configured for training.

“The recruitment and training of ad hoc staff, as well as safety and logistics settings, has been concluded. The final shipment of sensitive materials will be delivered today on schedule.

“The commission wants to remind the political parties and candidates that the campaign ends at midnight today, Thursday, August 14.

“With less than 48 hours for the opening of a poll, the Commission reiterated its appeal to all those involved in the election of the interim, as political parties, candidates, voters, party agents, observers, and media, to comply with legal provisions, regulations, and guidelines.

“Doing that will ensure a smooth process,” said Inec official.

The selection of interim will be held in 16 constituents in 12 states in this country.
