England’s Three Lions advanced to the semi-finals of the European Championship after beating Switzerland on penalties on Saturday night.
The two sides drew 1-1 after extra time, with Bukayo Saka scoring an 80th-minute equaliser for England after Breel Embolo had opened the scoring for Switzerland.
In the penalty shootout, Manuel Akanji failed to convert the first kick for Switzerland, while Trent Alexander-Arnold scored the winning penalty and England won 5-3.

“That’s what we’ve been training for. When the gaffer said I’m going to take one penalty, I enjoyed it and I trained for it – I knew I had to take it. All five penalties from us were great,” Alexander-Arnold said.
England will now face either the Netherlands or Turkey – who play each other later tonight in the other quarter-final – in the semi-finals on Wednesday as Dortmund.
England, France and Spain are in the top four. The Netherlands or Turkey will fill the final spot.
