Tinubu Bola President on Monday, condemned violence in the highlands and asked Governor Caleb Mutfwang, political, religious and traditional leaders to find eternal solutions for persistent communal conflicts.
Continuous attacks continue in the state with the latest in the Zika community in the Kimakpa District Kwali District in the Bassa Regional Government in the state that caused death of around 60 people.
In a statement issued by a special advisor to the president about information and strategy, Bayo onanuga, Tinubu asked the Governor to “show political determination in dealing with the underlying communal problems that trigger violence and build eternal peace.”
The statement titled ‘President Tinubu condemned the latest attack on Plateau, demanding Governor Mutfwang to solve the underlying communal problem,’ read:
“The President of the Tinubu Soccer strongly condemned violence in the state of the highlands, urged state leadership to find eternal solutions for continuous communal conflicts.
“The President of the Tinubu ball expressed his deep sadness over the new bloodshed in the highlands, a tragedy that had claimed lives of more than 40 people.
“He strongly condemned violence and conveyed his sympathy to Governor Caleb Mutfwang, the state government, and the people of the highlands while urged him to call the political will needed to resolve the crisis and build eternal peace.

“In his call to harmony among those in the State of the highlands, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of love and unity outside the line of religion and ethnicity.
“He encourages community, spiritual, and political leaders inside and outside the country to unite and end the cycle of retardation attacks that make life unbearable for the affected society.
“The ongoing violence between people in the highlands, rooted in misunderstandings between various ethnic and religious groups, must stop.”
Quoting the president, the statement said:
“I have instructed the security institution to investigate this crisis thoroughly and identify those who are responsible for regulating this acts of violence. We cannot let this destruction and the Tit-Tat attack continue. Enough is enough.
“Outside of dealing with criminal elements of this incessant murder, political leadership in the highlands, led by Governor Caleb Mutfwang, must discuss the roots of the causes of the problem during this age. This problem has been with us for more than two decades.
“We can no longer ignore the underlying problems. It’s time to handle it fairly and find a lasting solution. I have discussed this problem with the Governor from time to time and offering advice for lasting peace.
“The federal government remains committed to supporting the Governor of Mutfwang and the State Government of the highlands in promoting dialogue, growing social cohesion, and ensuring accountability – important steps to resolve conflicts permanently in the highlands.”
