Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, on Monday announced the allocation of N1,912,187,753.82 to settle long-term leave allowances owed to public primary school teachers.
These payments, which span a four-year period, fulfill the governor’s commitment to prioritize the well-being and productivity of educators in the state.

According to a statement from the governor’s media office, the initiative is also aimed at supporting the state’s “260 smart green schools” policy, which is designed to improve the quality of education.
The decision follows Governor Mbah’s recent approval of a minimum wage of N30,000 for primary school teachers and local government workers, demonstrating his administration’s determination to improve conditions for education workers.
